Manteca Sportsmen Inc is an outdoor archery facility located at 30261 S Airport Way in Manteca, California. Operating as part of a larger 501(c)(4) nonprofit sportsmen's club established in 1947, the archery range is open daily except Tuesdays and offers a welcoming environment for archers of all skill levels.
The facility features two distinct shooting areas designed to accommodate different archery experiences. The practice range consists of seven targets positioned at distances ranging from 20 to 50 yards, each equipped with bow stands and backed by polypropylene butts supported by hay for safety. A picnic table is available for shooters to relax and tend to their equipment. Both ranges include yardage markers to assist with distance shooting, and all targets are equipped with hay-backed polypropylene butts to ensure safe arrow recovery.
Admission to the archery range is $8 per person, making it an affordable option for regular practice and skill development. The range challenges shooters both visually and physically, and the facility emphasizes a strong safety culture. Range rules require shooters to use the "ALL CLEAR" command before releasing arrows and maintain safe shooting practices at all times.
For those new to the sport, Manteca Sportsmen Inc offers a Beginners Archery Class held on the fourth Saturday of each month at 10:00 am, open to women, men, and youth. These comprehensive sessions cover safety fundamentals, proper form and technique, equipment knowledge, different archery styles including traditional archery, target archery, field archery, and bowhunting, as well as the physical and mental benefits of the sport.
The archery program also hosts periodic special events and competitions based on member interest. Those interested in participating in these competitions or receiving email updates about upcoming archery activities can contact the club at Archery@msimanteca.org or call (209) 823-7919.
