About

Archery Only The Pro Shop is a full-service archery facility and retail store located in Newark, California, serving the Bay Area for over three decades. The business has established itself as the number one retail archery dealer in Northern California and was awarded Archery Business Magazine's coveted "Dealer of the Year" in 2008.

The facility features a 12-lane indoor archery range with 20-yard targets, providing a climate-controlled environment for year-round shooting. The range operates on a first-come, first-served basis during open shooting hours, which run Tuesday through Friday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with additional limited lane availability during evening hours (5:00 PM to 8:00 PM). Extended hours are available on Thursday until 9:00 PM, and Saturday hours run from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM with reserved lane availability. Targets are movable, allowing shooters to practice at distances ranging from 5 to 20 yards.

The facility accommodates both experienced archers and complete beginners. Lane rentals are available for $20 per person per hour for those bringing their own equipment. For those without gear, Archery Only offers recurve bow rentals at $36 per hour and compound bow rentals at $50 per hour, both including lane rental. The business also provides a frequent-flyer shooting card—a $150 pre-paid card offering 10 hours of range time with a $20 savings. New paper targets are available for purchase at $1 each, while used targets are provided free of charge.

Beyond open range shooting, Archery Only offers comprehensive coaching and instruction through USA archery certified instructors with 25 years of experience. The facility provides both public and private lessons for ages 8 and above, along with specialized Sunday "Deep Dive" classes—unique 80-minute sessions covering basic safety, shooting form, and bow handling. The pro shop also offers professional services including bow tuning, bow repair, arrow repair, bow setups, and various installation services.

The business hosts a variety of special events and group activities. Birthday parties are available on Saturday mornings from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, accommodating groups starting at eight shooters. Corporate team-building events feature team competitions, safety briefings, instruction, and light refreshments, designed as an alternative to traditional trust-fall activities. Group shooting sessions allow friends and families to book private Saturday morning experiences. The facility also hosts Archery Tag—a fast-paced game combining archery, paintball, and flag football—on Saturday evenings, ideal for groups of 12 to 24 participants. Additionally, Archery Only offers Hoverball, an innovative activity where participants shoot at floating balls, serving as both an introduction for beginners and a challenge for experienced archers.

The retail component of Archery Only stocks equipment from major manufacturers including Hoyt USA, Mathews, Bowtech, Victory Arrows, Easton, Gold Tip, and many others. Customers can browse bows, arrows, broadheads, sights, stabilizers, releases, and arrow rests. The shop follows a "try before you buy" philosophy, allowing customers to demo any compound bow, recurve bow, release, or stabilizer in stock before purchasing.

The facility is known for being inclusive and accommodating to diverse audiences. The range regularly hosts Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and even offers special events for individuals with disabilities and vision impairments. The business has also supported the film industry, providing archery consultation and equipment for major motion pictures.

All shooters under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult at all times, and children must be at least 8 years old to shoot on the range. The facility maintains strict safety guidelines, including restrictions on crossbows and broadheads during range time, and limits of five arrows per shooting end.
